Review in Spring 2022 issue of Meanjin Quarterly

Earlier this year, Scribe sent me an advance reading copy of Louise Omer’s nonfiction debut Holy Woman, for review in Meanjin Quarterly.

I enjoyed reading Holy Woman and found it to be engaging and often insightful, in particular with regard to its exploration of power dynamics within close personal relationships and within the Pentecostal church. This book was frequently eye-opening and parts of it will stay with me for a long time.

You can read my full review of Holy Woman in Meanjin Quarterly’s Spring 2022 issue and online.

Many thanks again to Scribe for the copy of the book, Cher Tan at Meanjin for her excellent editing and guidance, and author Louise Omer for producing an ambitious and compelling piece of writing.
