What a time to be alive!

Though they say sexism’s over speaking up still isn’t free
I’ve either 99 conundrums – or, the bitch, they’d say, is me…

On the 19th of March, local poetry journal Not Very Quiet launched their second issue. I, meanwhile, launched a series of complaints about the state of the world in my poem published in the issue – a poem titled “What a time to be alive!

My favourite line in the poem probably remains “Though they say sexism’s over speaking up still isn’t free/ I’ve either 99 conundrums – or, the bitch, they’d say, is me…” The language is foul, but then again, so is misogyny.

As for the launch more broadly, it was a lively night full of fun people and inventive poetry. If you’re in or around Canberra, I’d highly recommend coming along to one of Not Very Quiet‘s evenings, or supporting them by sending them your writing. They’re a lovely supportive crowd!
