Cambridgeshire fens

“There is a sense of waiting in Cambridge. The small English city swells and shrinks with the migration of students and tourists, who lend pace to the foot traffic coursing through the wishbone of streets forming the city’s centre. In summer, the students mostly depart and the colleges, keen to take advantage of their residents’ absence, hastily erect scaffolding and begin repairing another year’s worth of wear on their limestone fortresses…”

I wrote about climate change, fenland, and the city of Cambridge in a creative nonfiction piece recently published by Hindsight Journal, which is run from within the University of Colorado Boulder. The piece is titled ‘Before The Floods’. I enjoyed writing it and am happy it has found a home.
