“The film purports to be a biopic: from its all-encompassing title to its quoting of Plath’s poetry, it implies its own veracity and consequent value as a biographical depiction of Plath’s life. Sylvia, however, merits study not for its quality or historical accuracy – being lacking in both – but rather for the way it adapts reality…”

An academic paper I wrote about a 2003 biopic of Sylvia Plath’s life has been published in Issue 52 of the journal Literature/Film Quarterly. An earlier version of the article was recognised several years ago at the Global Undergraduate Awards; it was a pleasure to dust off the paper, revise it, and submit it for publication.
