Poem published in The Global Youth Review

Some nice news! In January 2021, The Global Youth Review launched their first issue, with the theme of ‘self-expression’. You can read the magazine online here:

I was very happy to have one of my poems featured in this first issue of the magazine. ‘Keeping My Wits About Me’ was actually a runner-up for the June Shenfield Poetry Award in 2019; however, despite being recognised by the award, the poem has not appeared in print until now. It’s a pleasure to have it out in the world – I find I don’t always like my poems in the years after having written them, but this one is a favourite that (for me) has stood the test of time.

‘Keeping My Wits About Me’ explores political language and rhetoric, speech versus silence, and how apoliticism can at times itself be political. Thank you again to The Global Youth Review for publishing it.
